MWA On the Lake

Museum of Wisconsin Art On The Lake presented by: Paula Hogan

To further awareness of its mission, MWA has created a unique collaboration with Milwaukee’s premiere lakefront retirement community: Saint John’s On The Lake. The exhibition gallery contains over 100 running feet of space and each exhibition will be launched in conjunction with Milwaukee’s Gallery Night. All exhibits will include an education component such as a lecture or artist presentation.

MWA is pleased to have Paula Hogan as a sponsor for MWA On The Lake for its inaugural year.

Selected from a generous estate gift of work from Olof and Lucia Dahlstrand of Carmel, California, this exhibition will showcase just what an exemplary and sadly forgotten talent Thwaites possessed. Inspired by the stunningly different landscape of New Mexico, he responded with paintings that became increasingly abstract and in tune with changing art styles. This exhibition was curated by Erika Petterson, Associate Curator at the MWA.

The Museum of Wisconsin Art On The Lake is located at 1800 North Prospect Avenue in Milwaukee. Hours are Monday – Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and admission is free.

The book The Art of Charles W. Thwaites Freedom of Expression by Susan Hallsten McGarry is available for purchase at the Museum of Wisconsin Art On The Lake and on the Museum of Wisconsin Art online store.

The Museum of Wisconsin Art On The Lake is now part of the Milwaukee Museum Mile. The Museum Mile's inaugural event is Sunday, May 6, 2012.
