The Wisconsin Designer Crafts Council was established in 1916 - 1936 as the Wisconsin Society of Applied Arts. In 1937 they changed their name to Wisconsin Designer Craftsmen and in 1982 they became the Wisconsin Designer Crafts Council.

Wisconsin Designer Crafts Council is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering excellence in fine crafts- and to making them more significant in the cultural life of Wisconsin. Membership is open to all individuals who share this interest- from professional artisans, students, and gallery and shop owners to educators, collectors, museum curators and administrators. Member' work represents a wide range of media, including ceramics, fiber, metal, jewelry, glass, wood, enamels, leather, photography, and paper.
