Biography
Fred Logan was an artist, but also a teacher throughout his life. He studied at the Milwaukee State Teachers College, the Art Institute of Chicago, and Columbia University from 1928 - 1932. His instructors included V. D'Amico, Helen Gardner, A. Heckman, Gustave Moeller, Arthur Gunther, E. W. Swift, Howard Thomas, Robert von Neumann, and A. Young.
From 1932 -1935, he taught art at Washington High School and Steuben Junior High School in Milwaukee. He was also on the faculty of the University of Wisconsin-Madison as Assistant Professor and Chairman in the Art Department. In 1947 he taught at the Milwaukee State Teachers College.
Fred Logan's wife, Clarice, was another Wisconsin artist. They resided in McFarland, WI. He was the author of Growth of Art in American Schools published in 1955. Logan was a member of Wisconsin Painters and Sculptors, Wisconsin Education Association, American Federation of Teachers and Wisconsin Arts Federation.
