West Bend, WI---For Immediate Release---The Museum of Wisconsin Art is proud to announce a solo exhibition of paintings by Thiensville’s Flora Langlois. Born in Costa Rica, Flora received her advanced education here in the United States. After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree from UW-Madison, she obtained her Master’s degree from UW-Milwaukee. The exhibition will open on Wednesday, June 4th and close on Sunday, June 29th. An opening reception will be held on June 8th from 1:30-4:00 pm at MWA.
The paintings of Flora Langlois are a journey through nature via the delights of her imagination and a very personal expression of the natural world. Flora says her ideas “depict and show the mysterious and mystical aspects of that world – a mixture of nature, illusion, and self.” This world of magical realism has its genesis in many sources: her lake-side studio surroundings, her finds from walks through fields, woods, and beaches, and a very careful observation of nature. For the artist, her enchanting paintings seek to enter into the natural world and explore “the spiritual connection of things natural to us and how all creation is united.” The friendliness of her work, the wonderment induced in the viewers, and sometimes, a hint of romance, are the “true and honest vision” of Flora Langlois.
Flora is represented by the Tory Folliard Gallery of Milwaukee, WI, and has work exhibited in Tory Folliard’s 20th Anniversary Exhibition through the end of May.
