WEST BEND,WI February, 20, 2009---- For Immediate Release---- The Museum of Wisconsin Art is pleased to announce a new family series, Catch Art in Action. Through a generous grant from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation’s Mary L. Nohl Fund Catch Art in Action will be a Saturday afternoon drop-in every other month. First in the series starting March 21st, from 1-4 pm the museum will come alive with activities exploring the art of portraiture through the paintings of Carl von Marr. There is no registration, stay for an hour or stay the afternoon! This event is free with regular admission for non-members and members are always free. Children 12 and under are free.
Families of all shapes and sizes are invited to make art projects exploring family portraiture, and participate in an Art Exploration game. At 3 pm West Bend’s own Musical Masquers a community theater group, will bring the galleries to life as they share stories of the Marr family. You will meet the Marrs indeed! Legacy Photo & Frame of West Bend will be onsite to take complimentary family portraitures. The option to purchase a print will be available. MWA docents will lead discussions on the history of the Marr family portraits lining the gallery walls.
Catch Art in Action is a new family series that takes art to the next level, inviting guests to actively participate. Through hands-on projects, and multidisciplinary performances Catch Art in Action is sure to delight everyone.
The next Catch Art in Action on May 16th, 2009 will bring Berhard Schneider’s work to life. MWA will explore Wisconsin landscape through interactive activities.
The Museum of Wisconsin Art, Inc. is located at 300 S. Sixth Avenue in downtown West Bend’s Cultural District. MWA is a regional art museum featuring the visual art of Wisconsin artists throughout the ages. Public hours are Wednesday-Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and Sunday 1:00-4:30 p.m. Admission: $5 for Adults, Students & Seniors $3, Children 12 and under are free. Members are always FREE.
