From its humble beginning, handcrafting steel bike frames in a rural Wisconsin barn, to becoming one of the dominant players in a global multi-billion dollar cycling market, Joy Ride highlights Trek Bicycle Corporation’s Wisconsin heritage, design innovation, and dedication to making the world a more bike-friendly place.

Become a trash-ion designer with Milwaukee recycling artist Becky Tesch. Learn to make high fashion jewelry from “trashed” bicycle parts, including popped inner tubes, worn-out bike chains, and more!

Bike Friendly West Bend and MOWA team up to offer a special morning ride with an art project and lunch.

7:30–11:00 | Bike Decorating

Decorate your bike at the Bike Friendly West Bend booth at the Downtown West Bend Association Farmer’s Market. Bring your helmet to add some flair!

11:00–12:00 | Family Bike Ride
Meet at the MOWA parking lot for a family bike ride on the Eisenbahn State Trail. 

12:00–1:00 | Picnic Lunch
Bring your lunch for an outdoor picnic at MOWA.

Bikes and Brews
Saturday, June 2 | 10:00–4:00

Hop on the bus for a road trip to Waterloo—the world headquarters of Trek Bicycle Corporation. Take a guided tour through the facility, view its historic collection, and pass through the design studio and Race Team Shop where every pro-athlete bike is built. Then travel to Lake Mills to explore Tyranena Brewing Company with a private guided brewery tour. Receive a commemorative pint glass filled to the brim with your favorite brew and enjoy lunch in the beer garden before the trek home.

Design Your Own Art Bike
Friday, June 8 | 10:30–3:00

Have you ever wanted to create a custom bike frame?  Here’s your chance. Join Trek designer Kristina Bybee and artist Shane McAdams for this one-of-a-kind class. Using an unpainted Trek bike frame as your canvas, learn various painting techniques taught by each artist to create your own custom design. Hang your finished piece on the wall or complete it at a local bike shop to ride the streets in style!

Trek Bikes Design Camp (Ages 10+)
June 20, 21, and 22 | 10:30–3:00

For the first two days of camp, students learn firsthand from Trek bicycle designers how to design bikes, helmets, jerseys, shoes, and more. On the final day of camp students load the bus to tour Trek’s world headquarters in Waterloo to see it all come together.

$150 with Membership

Movie at MOWA | Toy Story
Friday, June 22 | 8:30–10:00

To infinity and beyond! Marcus Theatres and MOWA partner to bring you an outdoor movie night. Bike in—or beam in—and enjoy a special showing of Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story projected on the biggest wedgie in town. Bring friends, family, and something to sit on.

City of West Bend’s Fourth of July Parade
Wednesday, July 4, 2018

Get patriotic and decorate your bike for the City of West Bend’s Fourth of July Parade! Join Bike Friendly West Bend and MOWA to walk or bike the parade route. The parade ends at Regner Park with a celebration featuring live music, duck derby, splash pad, free root beer floats for kids, and fireworks!

Beer and Bike Ride
Saturday, August 4 | 10:30–2:30

Join Bike Friendly West Bend’s Jeff Puetz and curator Graeme Reid for a beer and bike adventure through the Kettle Moraine’s lush countryside. This 30-mile roundtrip ride will start at the museum and travel the Eisenbahn State Trail to the quaint villages of Kewaskum and Campbellsport. Refuel with a beer and break at each stop, including lunch on your own at Kewaskum’s Limping Coyote Mexican Bar and Grill.
