Collections Management/Exhibits Intern

    The intern will receive an introductory experience in collections management and exhibitions along with insight into the behind-the-scenes work at an art museum.

    Job Duties:

    Job duties may include data entry, care and maintenance of objects, inventory, exhibition preparation, and installation. During the internship, the intern may have the opportunity to participate in other museum activities such as special events, research tasks or educational endeavors.

    Exhibition assistance will be for exhibitions at the MWA and our satellite location at Saint John’s On The Lake on Milwaukee’s Eastside. The MWA is hosting 13 exhibitions this year w/ four shows at our satellite location. The estimated time for intern participation at the satellite location will be approximately 15 – 20 hours per show with some work at both the museum in West Bend and the gallery in Milwaukee.

    Job Requirements:

    Applicants must be enrolled in a college degree program or have completed a bachelor’s degree in history, museum studies, or a related field. (Completed freshman year) The intern must be a self-initiator, take direction well, detail-oriented and able to work without constant supervision.

    Special Requirements:

    The intern must have personal transportation for travel.
